Leaders can’t do it all

Sometimes you just need someone to say it. So I’ll be the one to tell you – you can’t do it all.

This isn’t a message of focus. It’s not an attempt to tell you to strategically choose what’s on your “to do” or “won’t do” lists.

Nope.

This is just the recognition that we can’t do everything. Sometimes you just have to let yourself off the hook. Give yourself some grace.

Because as much as you push yourself to get everything complete, it’s just as important to show the rest of your team that it’s ok to take a break. To rest. To accept that you’re a finite being that can’t do it all.

Here’s the permission you need: admit that you can’t do everything.
